Signal Film and Media are incredibly excited to share the reopening of Cooke’s Studios, Barrow’s newly refurbished arts centre - following an epic £1.4million transformation. We’d love to invite you to be part of the celebration!
We’re launching with two powerful photography exhibitions presented in partnership with the Martin Parr Foundation that speak to the North:
📸 CHRIS KILLIP – Askam-in-Furness A major exhibition of work by the legendary British photographer and his poignant 1982 documentary photography of life in Askam — a village caught in the tides of industry, landscape and change.
🛠️ ONE YEAR! Photographs from the Miners' Strike 1984-85 Marking 40 years since the strike that shook Britain, this commemorative exhibition features photography and ephemera from the collection of Martin Parr, documenting one of the most defining industrial and social struggles in British history.
Together, these exhibitions mark the beginning of an exciting new phase for Signal and for the creative future of Barrow as we launch our reimagined arts centre inside Cooke’s Studios. More than just a building, we can’t wait to bring more art to more people in Barrow as we continue growing and developing. Join us and step into our most ambitious chapter yet.
Free drinks and refreshments will be provided. We can't wait to see you there!
